Founder Harold 'Whitey' White

Mead and White Founder Harold "Whitey" White

Harold "Whitey" White, born in Bridgman, Michigan in 1933 and a 1951 graduate of Bridgman High School, devoted his life to service and the electrical trade. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and spent more than 50 years owning and operating Mead & White Electrical Contractors, Inc. A proud member of the IBEW since 1951, he also contributed through his involvement with JATC and NECA.

Orland Mead, born August 19, 1913 in Baroda, Michigan, dedicated his life to public service, community leadership, and the electrical industry. A longtime Baroda Township supervisor for 13 years, he also served in the U.S. Armed Forces during World War II before building a career as a respected electrical contractor and owner of Mead & White Electrical Contractors, Inc.

Industry Alignment

Mead and White joins the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA), reinforcing commitment to excellence.

Weldun Company

1970 - Weldun Tool & Engineering Company Project

Mead & White Electric was proud to be part of the original 1970 construction of Weldun Tool & Engineering Company's headquarters, whose legacy continued through EAGLE Technologies Group and remains part of the site’s ongoing industrial history today through CONVERGIX Automation Solutions.

Berrien County (MI) Jail Expansion

1979 - Berrien County (MI) Jail Expansion

Mead & White Electric was proud to support the original 1979 expansion of the Berrien County Jail in St. Joseph, Michigan, contributing electrical expertise to a major civic project that included founder Harold White among the documented groundbreaking team. Decades later, our team returned from 2017–2021 to help modernize the facility’s electrical, communications, fire alarm, and security systems—continuing a long-standing relationship built on trust and dependable work. Mead and White acquires Colip Electric Company, Inc., a respected South Bend, Indiana contractor established in 1909.

2001

Growing Leadership

Robert White and Daryl Pendergrass join ownership, strengthening leadership.

St. Joseph County IN. Energy Center Water Treatment Plant

2001 – 2004 Lakeland Hospital Center for Outpatient Services

Between 2001 and 2004, Mead and White Electric served as the electrical contractor for the Lakeland Center for Outpatient Services in Royalton Township. This project was the cornerstone of Lakeland Health’s (now Corewell Health's) strategy to modernize and decentralize its medical services.

Legacy Recognition

Mead and White receives the NECA Legacy Award for 50 years of excellence in membership.

Watervliet High School

2016 – 2017 Watervliet High School/Middle School

In partnership with GMB Engineering and Miller-Davis Construction, Mead & White Electric was proud to be a successful partner providing all electrical services for the remodel and addition to the Watervliet High School and Middle School.

Cook Nuclear Plant

2016 – Present D.C. Cook Nuclear Plant

Mead & White has supported American Electric Power at D.C. Cook Nuclear Plant since operations began in 1975. Since 2016, we’ve played a key role in major projects, including the North Access Building, Fukushima FLEX Storage Facility, and protected area system upgrades.

Electrical Pioneers

Colip Electric, a division of Mead and White, receives the NECA Centennial Pioneer Award recognizing 100 years of membership. Colip Electric is NECA's eighth oldest member, joining in 1916.

Berrien County Jail Upgrades

2017 – 2021 Berrien County Jail

Mead & White provided complete electrical, communication, fire alarm, and security systems for the renovation of intake, staff, and laundry areas, along with extensive facility-wide security upgrades. Read here for more.

Lincoln Middle/High School

2018 – 2021 Lincoln Middle School, Plymouth, IN

Working with Barton Coe Vilamaa and Skillman Corporation, Mead & White Electric provided full electrical and low-voltage systems for a 191,806-square-foot middle school, including a two-story academic wing, cafetorium, performing arts area, and fieldhouse gym.

2020

Next Generation Leadership

Tim Noonan acquires Mead and White Electric, continuing its legacy of integrity and passion. He started working for the company as an apprentice, and now he leads a special team of genuinely professional electricians and staff.

2024 – 2026 St. Joseph County IN. Energy Center Water Treatment Plant – Phase II

In response to rising industrial demand in New Carlisle, Indiana, Mead & White Electric worked with DLZ Engineering, LD Docsa, and others to expand clean water capacity from 6 MGD to 12 MGD through major electrical upgrades to wells, pumps, controls, and treatment systems.
